Snowy walk home

Hello lovelies!

Well winter really is in full swing up here in Yorkshire it would seem, as demonstrated by my walk home. It took me nearly 2 hours to do a walk that would normally take just under 1 hour (in case you're wondering why I walked, it's because the entire bus service across the city was cancelled). My husband is still stranded up in Huntington with his parents. Hoping he gets home tonight. Anyway, I thought I'd share some of the pictures that I took on my mobile whilst I walked home:

If you look in the middle of the river, you can see one of the many islands of ice that have formed. This is a fast flowing river, not just a sagnant canal and it's icing over :/

The above two photos make it look not too bad, but the bit between where the man is walking and the river had snow up to my knees when I trod in it.

Our road doesn't get gritted - this is how much snow cars are having to drive through to get into/out of our estate.

Hasn't turned out that well but this is about half as deep as the actual snow went!

What's it like where you are? Are you snowed in? Has life come to a stand still or are you longing for a piece of the snowy action?

  1. Hi Emily, it's pretty much the same here in Barnsley. I'm trying not to venture out though. You must of been freezing xx

  3. It snowed for 3-4 days in both North and South of the country but we in the middle only had a single day of snow which give us only a fine layer to prettify things!

  5. I'm jealous! London got some snow, but none of it stuck. =( Least not from what I could see.

  6. You've got more than us, hehe. I hope your Mr makes it home for you, even our roads that have been gritted still have snow settled snugly on top of them.

  8. I'm so disappointed, I think I live in the only part of the UK that's not covered in snow.

  10. Very pretty pictures of the snow! The snow is still bad enough in Durham to avoid going very far!
