Bicycle, Bicycle!!

Silly Emily on a Bike

This is one of my favourite pictures of all time! It's from some time last summer when we did a 32 mile bike ride along one of our favourite Sustrans routes. Why am I sharing it with you? Because today, I got back on my bike *cue fanfare*

I'm an odd girl, and sometimes I develop random anxieties or fears and over the past few months, the thoughts of cycling to work has filled me with utter terror and dread. Don't ask me why, I honestly don't know. I mean I'll happily do a 21 mile cycle on a Saturday, but cycle to work? No thank you. But today, I bit the bullet and I got back on my bike and cycled to work.

And you know what? It was pretty flipping good! The beaaaautiful sunshine helped, but cycling to work is so easy really - in fact, it's technically easier than getting the bus, and it's quicker, healthier and cheaper too!

So I have a couple of questions for you:

Do you ever get random anxieties or fears? What are you afraid of at the moment?

How do you get to work everyday?

Also, I'm loving some of the ideas that are coming in to save me from being such a fashion disaster! Feel free to comment with some more just here xx

  1. Well done for facing your fears! Biking to work is lovely (mostly, anyway!) - it sets me up for the day, and the ride home chills me out.

  2. Whey! Go you! With your yoga and cycling you're putting the rest of us to shame! I get random fears/ anxieties, right now it's going to the supermarket (weird, right) but I'd rather walk a mile up the road and go to the grocery or bakery.

  3. Mel - haha you clearly don't have to cycle past the library! So stressful- Im forever having people walk out in front of me!

Lily - Haha, I'm really not that good. I've put on so much weight (I overeat when I'm anxious hence my GTP is going to lead me to obesity at this rate!) so I just desperately neeed to exercise! I go through phases of not wanting to go into certain shops. I used to be terrified of taking back library books too until they changed to a system where you don't have to talk to anyone.

  4. Heyy,

I am the worst for anxiety problems, so i totally understand why you felt this way. Mine is more anxiety about stopping doing something, E.G If i don't pray tonight and ask EXACTLY the same thing in EXACLTY the same order as i did last night, something awful will happy (just one example) but i work myself up about loads of things! :(

Well done for getting back on your bike though! :D xxx

  5. I admire you for biking to work, I would surely get run over. I walk to work when the weather is nice it takes me about 35 minutes as I don't rush and then I'll walk home at night with James as he also works in town.

I've suffered with depression and anxiety for 15 years but my anti-depressants help control it.

  6. Congrats on conquering the bike again. The first time I had a random anxiety it was eating apples, I thought that I would choke on the peel and it took me two years to overcome it. Right now I feel that I'm developing something towards makeup and creams and I'm trying my hardest to keep it under control because I love makeup :(
